Festive launch renovation of public hall of Leeuwarden
On Monday January 16th the renovation of the public hall of the city council office of Leeuwarden will officially start. At 17:00 the official ceremony will begin and the model of the hall will be unveiled. Thea Koster, alderman of the municipality of Leeuwarden, will give the welcome speech. The new public hall - which was designed by Jeanne Dekkers Architectuur in Delft – will improve the provision of services of the municipality of Leeuwarden to the citizens and businesses.
In 1994, the city of Leeuwarden got a new city hall, designed by Jeanne Dekkers. The entrance of the building runs through historic Burmaniahuis and then goes through a public hall to Oldehoofsterkerkhof with its distinctive tower. The public city hall will get a facelift in which services will be improved and the safety of visitors and employees will be ensured. The hall will be rebuilt and the service desks and furniture will get a quiet, uniform expression. This gives the service desks an inviting character and the visitor has a direct overview upon entry.
