Versatile “tetra” form for a sustainable work-environment
Deltares is an independent knowledge-institution which focuses worldwide on innovative solutions for water, subsoil and infrastructure. Soon at one of the Deltares locations in Delft (Rotterdamseweg) the execution of a new building will take place. On Tuesday, February 14th the official start of construction took place celebrated with a symbolic inauguration ceremony.
At the end of 2011 the tender action was completed for the new office building (6100 m2) which includes about 360 office work places, a meeting and congress pavilion (280 m2) and a new access bridge linked to the developmental science park Technopolis. In due time the 13 hectare Deltares plot itself will also be reorganized according to environmental principles. The new office building is an energy and CO2-efficient building and will feature a façade that varies in form responding to its frequently changing orientation. Due to the triploid design of the building which refers to the 'Delta' it has an omnidirectional appearance. Its vigorous appearance concords well with the robust seventies architecture of the original complex. Expected final completion: mid 2013.
