Residences Appelgaard Buren

Housing Foundation Tiel has selected Jeanne Dekkers Architectuur as architect for the redevelopment of the Appelgaard in Buren. Jeanne Dekkers Architectuur was chosen in the competition because it approached the plan as a "neighbourhood within a neighbourhood." The challenge is to find explicitly new types of elderly and care homes. The goal is not a traditional form of housing, but a way of living that is part of society and is involved in the area. The program brief for this project consists of placing 55 senior housing apartments on the site of the former care home The Appelgaard and the redevelopment of the residential area and public space. The start of construction is scheduled for mid 2011.
