The rectangular Nieuw Loopveld building houses commercial units, a day care centre and eight apartments. It has four storeys, with a post office and shops on the ground floor. The volume adjoins the C&A store Jeanne Dekkers Architecture built here earlier and marks the boundaries of Amstelveen's new heart: the building is quite literally a cornerstone of the new centre. The new buildings are flanked by promenades. The post office protrudes and creates a bottle neck in the shopping street, which results in a new 'town gate'. Façade cladding matching that of the existing buildings maintains a sense of uniformity. The transparent base is separated from the existing buildings by a patio. Inside are the staircases and footbridges that lend access to the apartments on top. The roof of the car park is designed and decorated as a day care centre playground.
