Near a new nursing home on the grounds of the Open Vensters health-care facility in Ameide, 21 two-storey homes and 48 apartments are being built. Part of the existing home for the elderly is being pulled down for the sake of this project. These are permanent dwellings that meet the requirements of Dutch housing statutes issued by the CWK. Identical colours and materials are being used to underline the uniformity of the two-storey homes and the apartment buildings.Apartments are housed in three robust blocks connected by outdoor spaces. The blocks are situated at the edge of the grounds, whereby occupants enjoy a panoramic view of the polder. Accompanying each block is a partially underground parking garage.Two-storey homes, all on the waterfront, feature pent roofs. Each roof is the mirror image of its neighbour, and the result is a distinctive and varied façade. The dwellings have full residential programmes on their ground floors and flexible living areas upstairs. The generous width of each house includes room for built-in storage space. A mezzanine provides each dwelling with extra light and spaciousness.
