The urban plan of the ‘Goese Schans’ has been designed by West 8 and provides a sustainable environment of a former harbour area to a high-quality residential area for a diverse group of residents. Architecturally the neighbourhood offers a mix of modern and classic styles, without a specific historicizing way of building.
Within this design Jeanne Dekkers Architectuur created for an apartment building with a plinth on the ground floor with facilities for healthcare. The concept for this design is a solid building in brick architecture, with a clear reference to the old warehouses and connected to the water. The building houses a variety of dwelling forms which are related to health care. The plinth accommodates health care functions such as a general practitioner, pharmacy, physiotherapy and dentists. The building is in volume and appearance a clear link between the old, historic city centre of Goes and the new, ambitious neighbourhood of Goese Schans.
